definition2 Definition: Export Log File is a feature that allows the user to export log file data into a comma separated text (CSV) format that is readable by programs like Microsoft Excel® for post processing or storing logged data.

 

24by24mouse How to: Export a Log File:

 

Create a new log file and log data OR  open a log filethat you would like to export
Click on Log (located in the Menu Bar at the top of the screen)
Click on Export Log File
An Export dialog will appear (see below).  Select parameters from the parameter list located on the left side of the dialog by selecting a parameter and clicking the "Add" button.   The parameter will show up in the "Data sources to export" list on the right side of the dialog
Continue this operation until you have selected all of the parameters you wish to export
If you would like to export all of the available parameters, click the "Add all" button and all of the parameters will be included in the export.
Execute the Export by clicking the "Export" button at the bottom of the dialog
A file with your log file name and an ".csv" extension will written to the hard disk.

note2 Note:    All dashboard parameters are stored in the log file when logging.  This is true regardless of the parameters that are being monitored on the dashboard or the charts. 

 

note2 Note:    When exported, parameter names will be exported in columns while the data itself will be exported into rows. Refer to Microsoft Excel® help for details about opening CSV files and creating charts.
